Borders Farm has always been about family.

Established by brothers Henderson and W.H. Borders in 1948, Borders Farm was born with a mission to provide for their families and others. With an initial focus on growing cotton, various other row crops, and chickens, then transitioning to a full-time beef cattle operation, the Borders Brothers and their wives were hardworking and dedicated to forming a strong and sustainable operation that would extend beyond their lifetimes and establish deep roots in the local farming community. The work they did for the farm and our community will not soon be forgotten.

When it was time for the farm to transition to the next generation, Henderson and W.H.’s families eagerly stepped in to continue in their fathers’ footsteps. The desire to farm runs deep in Borders blood. The tract of land they had farmed together split into two, each family focusing on the two sides separately.

In 2012, Edwin, Henderson’s son, decided to expand on the beef cattle operation on the Gordon Road side by pursuing a farming passion of his own: u-pick muscadines. As a family favorite, muscadines were a strong choice as the initial produce-addition to the farm. Edwin and family sunk themselves into learning all they could about the native-grape cultivar and tended handily to the vines resulting in success, growth, and enjoyment by the surrounding community.

Over the years, Edwin, with the help of his family, has continued to grow his muscadine offerings. In 2021, the muscadine selection was nearly doubled.

With a passion for “keeping it local,” we are excited to see growth in the future of Borders Farm and would like to thank you for spending time with us!
